The agreement
These terms are a binding agreement between you and the team operating Tifo ("Tifo", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Tifo website, smart contracts, and related services (together, the "Service"). By connecting a wallet, buying a pack, or otherwise interacting with the Service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, whichever is greater.
- You must be legally permitted to hold and trade digital assets in your jurisdiction.
- You must not be located in, or a resident of, a country subject to comprehensive sanctions by the relevant authorities, and you must not appear on any sanctions list.
- You are responsible for any taxes that arise from your use of the Service.
What Tifo is
Tifo is a collectible card and prediction game built around the 2026 World Cup. Cards are ERC-1155 tokens issued on the Base blockchain, each tied to a single match and a predicted scoreline. Cards are bought through booster packs, and packs are themselves ERC-1155 tokens. Buying a pack and opening it are separate steps. Opening a pack burns it and mints the cards inside to your wallet.
Cards and packs are collectibles. They are not securities, investment contracts, deposits, or promises of future profit. We make no representation that they will retain or increase in value.
Wallet and account
You interact with the Service through a self-custody wallet that you control. You are solely responsible for safeguarding your wallet, your private keys, and your seed phrase. We cannot recover them, reverse a transaction, or restore lost funds or cards. Anyone with access to your wallet can use the Service as you.
Payments and fees
- Pack prices are denominated and paid in USDC on Base. The price for each (category, style, tier) triple is published on the store page. Once a triple records its first paid sale, its price is locked and cannot be raised.
- You are responsible for the gas fees that the network charges to process your transactions.
- All sales are final. Because pack openings depend on verifiable on-chain randomness, the result of an opening cannot be undone, and we cannot refund or reverse it.
- Of the revenue from primary sales, eighty percent is directed to the tournament prize pool and twenty percent funds development. The exact addresses are public on Base.
Booster packs and randomness
Each pack tier — Standard, Premium, Gold — has a fixed, pre-announced cap per (category, style, tier) triple. Premium and Gold packs include rarity guarantees (silver and gold cards respectively) on a fixed number of slots. All non-guaranteed slots roll the base rarity distribution. Card scorelines are drawn uniformly from the twenty-five possible outcomes per match.
Pack opening uses Chainlink VRF to fetch verifiable randomness on-chain. Once an opening request is fulfilled, the cards minted to your wallet are determined by that randomness and cannot be changed.
Scoring and the leaderboard
- For each match, you may lock one card before kickoff. The locked card is your scoring entry for that match.
- If your locked card's predicted scoreline matches the final result of the match, its face value (5 for Regular, 7 for Silver, 9 for Gold) is added to your score.
- Final results are sourced from a designated oracle. We may pause scoring or correct entries if the oracle publishes a confirmed correction (for example, after an official scoreline is amended by the governing body).
- The leaderboard settles after the final match of the tournament. Prize-pool distributions follow the published payout schedule.
Marketplace and royalties
Cards and unopened packs are transferable. Trades settled through the Tifo marketplace pay a 5% royalty (capped on the contracts at 10%) to a Tifo-controlled receiver that funnels into the same prize-pool and development split as primary-sale revenue. The receiver address and the enforced rate are public on Base. We do not control transfers that happen on third-party marketplaces or directly between wallets.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Manipulate the leaderboard, the oracle feed, or any scoring mechanism — including operating multiple wallets to coordinate entries with the intent of exploiting the prize pool.
- Probe, scrape, or interfere with the Service, the smart contracts, or the infrastructure they run on.
- Misrepresent your identity, age, eligibility, or location.
- Use the Service to launder funds or to evade sanctions.
Intellectual property
Card art, the Tifo wordmark, and the design of the Service are owned by Tifo or its licensors. Buying a card grants you ownership of the on-chain token and a personal licence to display the associated art. It does not transfer copyright or grant commercial rights to the underlying artwork.
Tifo is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FIFA or any participating football association. Team and player names are used for descriptive identification only.
No warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of vulnerabilities, nor that the underlying blockchain, oracle, or wallet providers will perform as expected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tifo and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any direct damages is capped at the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) one hundred US dollars.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Tifo against any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service — or to specific features — if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms or used the Service to harm other users. Termination of access does not affect ownership of cards or packs already in your wallet; those remain yours on-chain.
Changes
We may revise these terms as the product evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes we will flag them on the site or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Tifo team is organised, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the Service, except where local consumer-protection law grants you a non-waivable right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
